The hardware comes as DIN rail mounted modules. Modules are connected together by I2C+Power standard connectors, and wired to the external appliances. System can be extended by just plugging in more modules.
Peripherals are 100% compatible with ESPHome - we choose well-supported extension chips.
JointBox hardware comes with JointBox CLI, a clean, modular extension of the ESPHome YAML syntax with macros that let you configure multiple channels and modules easily.
JointBox is a connected hardware for wired home automation. JB Modules are mounted on DIN rails in a dedicated switchboard and are connected together via standard patch cords. There are multichannel binary inputs and outputs for relays and switches, power MOSFET backed LED PWM, RS485 protocol converter, Display + Push buttons UI, and more.
You can extend each function capacity by adding more similar modules.
Room units are installed on a wall or ceiling. Room units complement switchboard modules by adding multi-sensor (temperature, humidity, CO2, VOC, illuminance, noise level) and smart remote (WiFi, BLE, IR) capabilities to the solution.
All JointBox hardware is based on ESP32 MCU and is compatible with ESPHome out of the box. With ESPHome it is immediately available in Home Assistant. The hardware is open and lets you build and integrate the extras you need.
Jointbox Hardware is at pre-production stage. The module designs are working, integrated, and verified. There are several installations already running for months.
The next move for us is to launch a crowdfunding campaign in March 2022 to fund small batch device production, factory production of enclosures, and finally launch ecommerce and business operations. We would love to be able to ship first products to backers in May-June 2022.
Your feedback and interest is important for us now. Please subscribe to the mailing list to get notified when we launch a crowdfunding - we plan to offer nice discounts for the early subscribers!
